Additionally, tax efficiency matters more than most investors realize, so a poorly constructed actively managed portfolio could perform worse than a passive approach and cause unnecessary tax burdens. The goal is not to chase performance. . . the goal is to capture market returns efficiently and sustainably over a long period of time.

For instance, interest rate environments create opportunities for duration positioning, laddering strategies, and credit analysis when it comes to choosing specific bonds for your portfolio.
